Outstanding opportunities are available for talented Doctors to join our health district in a PGY2 position providing a variety of rotations throughout our regional health service. These general stream positions are designed for applicants who have not yet committed to or who are not yet eligible to apply for a specific career pathway. This may include applicants who are eligible for limited or provisional registration and are still pursuing their general registration. This is a great chance for applicants to receive rotations in a range of specialties to enable general registration. These include General Medicine, Internal Medicine, Surgical, Emergency and Sub-Acute Rehabilitation.
The Position:
The Registrar or Principal House Officer (Psychiatry) position delivers high-quality medical care to CQMHAODS consumers, following National Standards for Mental Health Services and service-specific protocols.
About Us:
The health hospital serves as the main mental health service hub for Central Queensland, providing comprehensive mental health programs, acute inpatient care, and community-based services. Key facilities include inpatient and outpatient units, with specialised teams for older persons, youth, Indigenous communities, and forensic cases located in the CBD. Services cover a wide range of support, from crisis response and alcohol/drug services to psychiatric outreach and rehabilitation programs. The service is accredited for advanced psychiatry training, has strong links with universities, and offers incentives for professional development and research in a supportive regional setting.
What you need:

MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

If qualifications were obtained outside Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA with Level 3 supervision and provide the following:

Evidence of successful completion of AHPRA recognised English Language test results within the last year.

Evidence of successful completion AMC MCQ (part 1) examination (if registering via the Standard Pathway).

Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

What you need:

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent)

Minimum 1 years of postgraduate experience in clinical medicine, with AHPRA approved Internship

Minimum AMC parts 1 passed, AMC 2 highly regarded.

Current competence in advanced life support techniques.
